This April GemSeek signed an agreement with Ming Chuan University (Taiwan) and data-driven marketing consultancy Ceresus to launch a 3-month long internship program and sharpen students’ skills as future data scientists with hands-on training.
Chia-yu Kao (Emma) and Yuan-hao Lee (Martin) joined GemSeek’s office in Sofia in early July as the first participants in the Global Summer Internship Program. Both are master students in Finance with some previous experience in data science.
During their first month at GemSeek Emma and Martin have been supporting a major Healthcare project with internet scraping, data cleaning and image recognition. In the remaining time of their internship they will also do text mining, as well as become involved in cross-team analytics and business development projects.
Excited for their next two months at GemSeek, Emma says she has been surprised how relaxed and friendly the office atmosphere at GemSeek is. “People working here,” Martin adds, “are driven by trust, not rules – it’s not this way in Taiwan.”
Certain that their internship abroad will be very meaningful for their professional development, the two are excited to further develop their data science skills and use their time to the fullest, exploring the local culture and cuisine and making new international friends
